DJOKOVIC THROUGH TO SEMIS

Novak Djokovic has defeated Tommy Haas of Germany in the quarter final of the Rogers Cup. Djokovic won the match by 6-3, 3-6, 6-3. The scorecard itself says that Djokovic had to work hard to knock the experienced German player out of the tournament. Haas rattled Djokovic with some fantastic groundstrokes in the second set. However, the Serbian superstar didn’t let Haas to pull off an upset and secured a place in the final 4.

Djokovic started the match in fine style and broke the service of Haas in the fourth game of the first set to take a lead of 3-1. Djokovic held his service in the next game and made the score 4-1. Djokovic didn’t lose the advantage after that and won the first set by 6-3.

But, in the second set, Djokovic didn’t play fluently and he played some very loose shots, which was something of a shock to those who follow the tennis latest news closely. Haas got a breakthrough in the fourth game and the score was 3-1 at the end of the fourth game.

After, that, Haas held his service in the remaining games to win the second set by 6-3. At that point of time, it seemed that the experienced German player might shock Djokovic. But, Djokovic played with a lot of determination in the third set. Haas seemed to have no answer of Djokovic’s wonderful forehand shots. The Serbian superstar got a breakthrough in the fourth game and kept the lead till the end to win the third set by 6-3.

After winning the match, Djokovic said that he was lucky to win the match even after making so many mistakes. Haas played well and in the second set, some of his shots were just incredible. Djokovic admitted that he would have to make some improvements for the following matches. In the semi final match, Djokovic will play against his fellow countryman Janko Tipsarevic.

With Djokovic in shaky form recently, it might be worth having a bet on Andy Murray to win the US Open – he has long odds at the moment but is currently in the form of his life after taking the Olympic Gold.
