Rod Laver reckons it’s an absolute privilege for him that a world level tournament like Laver Cup has been given his name, but it would have been icing on cake if he had been able to participate in it.

The format of Laver Cup has been designed pretty much like the format of Ryder Cup which is a Golf tournament and has been quite successful over the years. .

However the only difference between the two tournaments is that in the Ryder Cup, Europe takes on America, while, in the Laver Cup, Europe will take on the rest of the world.

And the opening edition of the Laver Cup is likely to be successful because the organizing committee has managed to sign almost all the big names on the tour,

The tournament may actually give the fans the opportunity to witness a doubles pair of Nadal and Federer which they would never have thought they would get to witness.

However that is if the skipper of the European side decides to put those two together on the court for the doubles matches. That remains an exciting possibility ahead of the tournament. Continue reading Rod Laver happy with Laver Cup Recruitment

Serena Williams says she also feels nervousness like anyone else, but, with the experience that she has gained over the years, she has now got the idea how to keep the emotions in check and focus on the job in hand.

Serena appears to be pretty calm whenever she is on the court and people reckon it’s one of her qualities which has helped her win so many games and titles, but, as per the veteran herself, she actually does not happen to be as calm as it, maybe, looks from outside. She battles with her own jitters.

Speaking to an American news network recently, Serena said, “I think you must see me practicing once. I don’t think I am that calm and relaxed. Of course, when you spend this much of time playing on the tour, you learn a lot of things one of which is how to carry yourself on and off the court. So, I don’t express myself that much during games. But, the nervousness is always there.” Continue reading Serena Williams says she also feels nervousness

Sky Sports’ tennis expert Barry Cowan has urged British number one Andy Murray to maintain composure in pressure matches if he wants to carve out a long Grand Slam winning career in the future.

Cowan’s comments come in the wake of Murray’s latest defeat to Novak Djokovic in the final of the Australian Open in Melbourne. The Scot appeared to be firmly in control of things after breaking the Serbian’s serve and racing away to a 2-0 lead in the third set but he let the distraction of his opponent’s injury break get the better of him and he succumbed to a four set loss.

Murray has been praised for finally being able to control his emotions in his recent Grand Slam successes in the US Open and Wimbledon but the Australian Open final showed that nothing much has changed for the Scot who still gets riled up when the going gets tough.
